1. Turn on the emergency call screen
Most phones come equipped with an emergency call function for critical situations. To activate this feature on an iPhone, press and hold both the power button and the volume up button (Volume +) simultaneously for about three seconds. The screen will then display three options: power off, the phone owner’s medical information, and emergency call.
If the buttons are held continuously, the phone will initiate a countdown timer and automatically dial the emergency number once the countdown finishes. Keep in mind that to enable this automatic emergency call function, users need to set up an emergency contact number in the Settings. Additionally, enabling features to share situational information and device location is necessary. In emergencies, data such as the phone owner’s blood type and medical history will be sent to rescue services for assistance.
2. Turn off the power or Find My
Turning off an iPhone using the volume button is a well-known process for many users. Simply hold the volume up button and the power button together for 3-5 seconds, then select Power Off to shut down the device.
Additionally, Apple offers a feature tied to Find My, which ensures that the device’s location tracking is disabled when the phone is turned off. Once the phone is powered back on, the Find My service will automatically resume functionality.
3. Camera control
The volume button on iPhone models can act as a substitute for the on-screen shutter button. This feature is especially helpful for users taking selfies or in situations where pressing the on-screen button is inconvenient.
To use this functionality, simply open the iPhone camera app, pose, and press the volume up button to capture the photo.
