The secret about the small error on the knife is certainly unknown to many people

No matter how big or small a kitchen is, a knife is indispensable. Interestingly, almost all kitchen knives have a small round hole. Many people do not know the function of this hole. A typical example is me in the past.

After researching, I will tell you the answer as follows.

According to the physical explanation, the main purpose of designing round holes on knives is to “absorb shock”. When we use a knife to handle some tasks such as cutting meat or bones, the kitchen knife is subjected to a very strong impact force. If there is no way to disperse that pressure, the blade is very easy to break and also makes our grip difficult. At that time, this small round hole allows the back and front of the knife to bear the force evenly, thereby helping to protect and increase the life of the knife.

In addition, the round hole on the knife also has many interesting hidden uses. I believe that after discovering this, you will find that many problems in life are easily solved.

    1. Storage and drainage

After using kitchen knives, you need to wash them to remove oil stains and stains on the surface. There will be a lot of water stains left on the knife after cleaning. If placed directly on a wooden cutting board, it will easily cause mold. Moreover, kitchen knives are also at risk of rusting if left wet for a long time.

At this time, the hole on the knife comes into play with the function of hanging the knife easily. This also helps drain water quickly, so the knife will not rust. Not to mention, hanging the knife above also helps the kitchen become cleaner and tidier.

    2. Remove the snail tail

Snails are a special delicacy, but snails sold in restaurants cause concerns about hygiene and food safety. Therefore, many people choose to buy fresh snails and bring them home to cook.

However, how to remove the snail tail is a difficult problem. Many people say that they use scissors to cut it, but this is not only time-consuming and laborious, but also easy to hurt your hands.

At this time, the round hole on the kitchen knife works extremely usefully as follows:

We just need to insert the snail tail into the round hole, then use another knife to knock off the exposed snail tail, so that the snail tail can be easily removed.

    3. Remove the seeds

In the fall and winter, many people like to use red dates to cook some health-enhancing porridges. Especially for women, eating dates is very good for the body.

However, red date seeds are very hard and difficult to remove. If you use scissors to cut directly, the pulp will easily remain on the date seeds. Not only is it time-consuming and troublesome, but it is also wasteful.

In fact, we can use the round hole on the knife to do this job. The method is very simple, you put the red date on the cutting board, then press the top of the fruit through this hole. Next, use your hand to pull out the date seed and you’re done.

    4. Support for mincing meat

In the case of not having a meat grinder, you will have to slice and mince the “vegetarian” meat. However, the meat slicer is usually quite heavy and if you have to mince meat for a long time, your hand will get very tired.

Let me give you a good tip: find a chopstick and poke it through the small hole on the date. Holding the knife in one hand and the chopsticks in the other hand will make mincing the meat much easier. Even if you chop continuously for half an hour, your wrist will not feel tired.
